Nicely done. I agree with most of it, but I don't listen to jays games on the radio, so some of it is lost on me.

What about pierre maguire? Sorry, I don't think we even want to bring that up.

I watch a fair bit of sportsnet also, and I can't help but like Mike Toth, Don Taylor, and Sean McCormik because he's married to that hot TSN chick and writes a good oilers blog.

You also have to give props to ex-tsn world junior man Paul Romanuk, and also Jim Van Horne for having the best moustache and name in sports broadcasting.

One notable omission is Jim Hughston. He might be the best play by play caller in the NHL, and he's on EA sports NHL video games. I will enjoy the Stanley cup finals so much more when Harry Neale and Bob Cole give up the reigns.

Also, Mike Lang, play by play guy for the Penguins, who was cut by the pens a while back. He is my alltime favorite. He's just the bees knees.

"He beat him like a rented mule!" - classic.

Ya, I certainly left out a couple of good ones, and you bring up a couple beauties. Jim Hughston is great, as is Mike Lang. Also great is the guy that calls the Sabers games, his name escapes me but he is known for great goal calls.

There are so many to choose from that I really had to go with which guys have given me the most enjoyment in recent memory. At one time Bob Cole would have been on my list, but he has fallen a long way. And we have talked previously about Pierre.

I lived for Blue Jays radio living in my small town. We got terrible radio, which probably led to my somewhat disinterest in music. Nothing better than being in the tractor when Tom or Jerry would come on and say “Blue Jays Baseball is on the air” As long a I can remember that is what I have listen to from 5-8 on the radio during the summer. Before Tom Cheek became ill with a brain tumor in or around 2004 (which eventually caused his death) he had called every one of the Blue Jay games in their existence. (I think he missed one game the year before because his Dad died). I remember listen to Jerry breakdown on the radio after Tom passed, thanking is long time partner for all the great times. Gives me shivers.

And further to that, you must have heard the Tom Cheek call when Joe Carter hit the Series winning homerun in ’93. “Touch 'em all, Joe! You'll never hit a bigger home run in your life!"

Ah, yes indeed.

I'm tearing up at that story, and I do remember them a bit now that you mention it, and I'm sure I'd recognize their voices, just didn't know their names.

No Marv Albert or Gus Johnson? Gus is hands down the best play by play guy on TV today, but he only does college basketball and the NFL, so he may have fallen off your radar (he actually used to do CFL games on ESPN2). I’m sorry, I don’t know if I can be the best man at your wedding until you recognize Gus Johnson's prowess as an announcer.

And if you don’t know who Gus Johnson is watch some of his calls on You Tube. He loses his mind on every call, it’s so good.

Plus, he brokered peace talks between my favourite ESPN writer, Bill Simmons (www.sportsguy.net), and Isiah Thomas around a topless pool in Vegas. You’ll have to read the Sports Guy’s article on it to fully understand how monumental this was. Isiah actually threatened Simmons on a radio talk show last year for ripping him in all of his NBA articles.

Who's that pretty one that's on all the football games. I like the pretty ones!
